Japan unveils biggest warship since WWII...

PHOTOS: Japan celebrated the launch of the biggest warship the country has built since World War II, the helicopter destroyer DDH183 Izumo. The $1.2 billion, 19,000-ton Izumo is capable of carrying 14 helicopters on its flight deck, and Japanese officials are trying to portray the vessel's purpose as national defense, border patrol and humanitarian aid, since the country's constitution prohibits it from developing an offensive military. Even so, the Izumo's launch stirred up fears it might be used in Japan's dispute with Taiwan over the Senkaku Islands. China also has begun operating an aircraft carrier in the area bought from Russia and retro-fitted.
