Orange Is the New Black is the Anti-Sex and the City....
Fact:
"Orange Is the New Black" is the best show that's not on television.
The one-hour Netflix series—based on a memoir of the same name by Piper
Kerman and created by Jenji Kohan, the woman behind "Weeds"—focuses on a
30-something named Piper Chapman who is serving a 15-month sentence at a
federal prison for a drug-related crime she committed years prior. The
female-focused series has generated so much buzz that comparisons have
been drawn to "Sex and the City." While both shows delve into women's
love and sex lives, friendships, and insecurities (by way of frank
dialogue and racy sex scenes), the comparisons end there. Allow us to
elaborate.
