Surranna Stonestreet: Father’s agony over girl killed by wall collapse...

A young girl was crushed to death by a stone wall when her father demolished the garden shed, an inquest heard.
Surranna Stonestreet was playing outside while her father did some DIY work. He thought the four-year-old was on a trampoline nearby.
But when one of the shed’s sides toppled over, he found her trapped under six breeze blocks as blood poured from her mouth. The father of four picked up his child and screamed for an ambulance.
Although Surranna was revived for a few moments by CPR, she died at the Royal United Hospital in Bath on May 3.
In a statement, her father, Karl, said: ‘It was my intention to take the shed down and I wanted to start again. I thought she had gone to the trampoline.’
The shed, at the home in Bath, became unstable when the corrugated metal roof was removed. It was originally built by Surranna’s uncle, John Copp.
He told Flax Bourton coroner’s court he learned the shed was structurally unsound at Christmas.
The coroner recorded a verdict accidental death, with severe traumatic head injuries as the cause of death.
In the days after her death, Surranna’s mother, Nicola, wrote on Facebook: ‘R.I.P BABY UR GOING TO B SOOOOO MISSED UR WERE MY WORLD. NOW SLEEPING WITH THE ANGELS LOVE U DARLING XXXX.’
