Okonjo-Iweala should resign, she’s short of ideas – Senator Hassan...

One of the serving Senators of the Federal Republic, Abdulmumuni Muhammad Hassan has joined the league of other Nigerians currently calling for the resignation of the coordinating Minister for the economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Hassan has like others said that if the Minister does not have ideas on how to run the nation’s economy, she should as a matter of urgency resign.

During the week, members of the Amaechi faction of the NGF had called on the Minister to resign her appointment if she cannot adhere strictly to the Appropriation Act, 2013.

Senator Hassan who represents Jigawa South/West,told Leadership that the Minister was doing the nation’s economy more harm than good.

According to him, ‘I believe the two Ministers of Finance are short of ideas and if that is the case, they should resign and allow other people to come in and inject fresh blood and ideas into the economy.

He added that, “The Minister of State was reported to have said that the budget cannot be implemented and yet, Ngozi is telling us that the economy is buoyant’’.

Speaking further, the lawmaker noted that, ‘’Our sources of revenue have not decreased, nobody has come out to say there is a shortfall. So why won’t they implement the budget fully? We, the PDP are feeling guilty and ashamed of what is happening to the economy. Nobody doubts that they have good qualifications, but their ideas are exhausted and we advise them to resign and allow the president to bring in fresh blood into the system’’.
